Texas

Such a shame you have to go do security course today. I have just got home from awesome night but now want to chill and i would have been perfect if you were here too. We could have lazed about in my sunny room and drank cocktails and laughed big hearty laughs like the frozen images of people in magazines. Perhaps I would smoke a pipe and then we could have ice cream and laugh some more. People would look at our silhouettes as we casually strolled past them with merriment, our happy-go-lucky attitudes spreading quicker then the fizz in a freshly opened bottle of coca-cola.

In the future when I am older then I am now I would look back on today with a heart warming fondness. The memories of youth still as vivid as when they were first created on our happy day together. When the nights are cold I could turn to the comfort of the big chest at the top of my staircase where I keep a now faded pair of lemon yellow shorts, the very ones I wore on this glorious day.

You of course are older too. Residing on a small ranch in Texas you are often too busy to dwell in the past while providing for your lovely wife and your three wholesome but sometimes unruly children. Life is hard on the ranch. It is rare you find your own time to reflect but when the dusty earth rises from the cattle’s hooves and catches the sunlight you find your mind wandering back to this day, the dust reminiscent of the earth that rose from the pebbles we were kicking into the lake, half heartedly competing with each other to see who could make the greatest distance.

Good morning.
